John Ned "Johnny" Shines (April 26, 1915 – April 20, 1992)


Blues Singer and Pianist, Johnny Shines, left and rejoined the music industry many times before making it big. He was once pulled back into the industry by Robert Johnson, who influenced his guitar playing and took him on tours. After suffering a stroke in 1980 he continued touring close to his death in 1992. Leroy Carr

Leroy Carr (March 27, 1905 – April 29, 1935)


Blues Singer/Songwriter and Pianist, Leroy Carr, developed the singing technique that influenced, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and others. He also inspired Artist with his  piano compositions and his songs have been covered by many  (Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, Memphis Slim and others). His alcoholic past gave him Nephritis (inflammation of the kidney) and he died aged 30 years old. Jazz Trumpet player, Carmell Jones, was a studio musician and Bandleader, that after recording some pieces lived in Germany for 15 years working with many musicians there. Great Musicians: Eric Dolphy

Eric Allan Dolphy, Jr. (June 20, 1928 – June 29, 1964)


Jazz alto Saxophonist, Bandleader, Composer, Flautist and Bass Clarinetist, Eric Dolphy, had working partnerships with John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Booker Little and others. He was also a major influence on Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock an a long list of talented musicians that passed through his Band. He died in Berlin, Germany in 1964 at aged 36 years old, as a result of his diabetic coma being mistaken for 'a Black Jazz musician on drugs', at the hospital, and he was given detox meds instead of the right treatment.
