Tribute Mondays: Mattiwilda Dobbs

Mattiwilda Dobbs (11 July 1925 – 8 December 2015)

Coloratura Soprano, Mattiwilda Dobbs, was one of the first Black Vocalist to have a successful international Opera career. She was the first Black Singer to perform in La Scala Italy as well as the first at Operas in New York and San Francisco. She had a great education and had a  Masters Degree in Spanish at Columbia University. She also attained numerous scholarships and awards during her tenure and had a long career. She died in 2015 at aged 90 years old. Thanks for your contribution Miss Dodds, you are appreciated.
