William "Red " Garland (May 13, 1923 – April 23, 1984)

Jazz Pianist and Bandleader, Red Garland, started out as a Boxer before switching fully to music. He popularized a different take on the Block Chord Piano playing style. He is also regarded for his works with Miles Davis; he died in 1984.
