Tribute Mondays: Joe Lutcher

Joseph Woodman Lutcher (Dec. 23, 1919 – Oct. 29, 2006)

R&B Saxophonist and Bandleader, Joe Lutcher, had an excellent career during the 1940's. He served in the US Navy for 3 years from 1942 to 1945. After serving he led an house Band at the Look Cafe and led Bands for National King Cole, Sammy Davis Junior and The Mills Brothers. He scored some Solo hits, but left the industry in 1953, after joining the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was the brother of Nellie Lutcher ; he died in 2006.
