Mary Elfrieda Scrugg (May 8, 1910 – May 28, 1981)

Self taught Pianist and Jazz Great, Mary Lou Williams, mentored and taught Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and many others. She wrote and arranged for Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman and also, being active since aged 10yrs, recorded many songs during her tenure.
