Singer, Jimmy Hughes, had huge success in the mid 1960's and is a major figure in the development of the Muscle Shoals music industry. He is the cousin of Percy Sledge. He worked at a rubber factory before scoring his hit (Steal away) that influenced Johnnie Taylor and Al Green. He retired in 1970 and worked a Government Job. Pianist, Keyboard Player and Composer, Joe Sample, was a founding member of the Jazz Crusaders. He had a great solo career and did session work for many (Miles Davis, George Benson, Eric Clapton, The Supremes and others). He began to play Piano at aged 5 years old and contributed greatly to the music industry through the years; he died in 2014.
