Reggae Thursdays: Count Ossie

Oswald Williams (1926 – 18 October 1976)

Jamaica Rastafari Drummer and Bandleader, Count Ossie was rejected along with his team, by the then anti-Rasta Jamaican music establishment of the 1950's. He was a pioneering percussionist and was used on many recordings of the 1960's by top Producers (Prince Buster, Coxsone Dodd and others) and Artists (King Stitt, Folkes Brothers and others) and also released material with his Bands, the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari and the Wareikas. He inspired future Drummers like Ras Michael, but died in a road accident in 1976 without reaping the benefits of his hard work. Please take a listen here and Happy Reggae Thursday:
