Jazz Greats: Lester Bowie

Lester Bowie (October 11, 1941 – November 8, 1999)

Jazz Trumpet Player and Composer, Lester Bowie, began his study of the Trumpet at aged 5 years old. He worked in the Blues and Rhythm and Blues genres during the early years of his career as a Sideman to many (Little Milton, Albert King, Solomon Burke, Joe Tex, Rufus Thomas and others). Mr. Bowie worked as Leader on numerous recordings from the 1970's up to the 1990's, interweaved by appearances on works by other Artists. He was the husband of Fontella Bass.
