Melvin James "Sy" Oliver (Dec. 17, 1910 – May 28, 1988)
Jazz Trumpeter, Singer, Composer, Arranger and Bandleader, Sy Oliver, was involved in the composition and arrangement of major pieces during the Big Band era and was also a musical director for Decca Records. He was a noted Trumpeter and a force behind Ella Fitzgerald and a well received Frank Sinatra Album.
