Long Beach based collective, LBC Crew, worked between 1995 and 1997 and was signed to Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle Records. They disbanded after the collapse of Deathrow Records. Group member Bad Azz has released solo projects and other members also remain active. Charlie "Fess" Johnson (Nov. 21, 1891, Philadelphia – Dec. 13, 1959, New York City )

Jazz Bandleader and Pianist, Charlie "Fess" Johnson, was the leader of the Paradise Ten from the 1920's to 1935. The ensemble gave regarded Sidemen such as Benny Carter, Sidney DeParis, Benny Waters and many others, their recognition. After leaving the Paradise Ten he did freelance work in other ensembles until he was forced to retire because of poor health. Jazz Trumpeter and Cornetist, Wooden Joe Nicholas, worked with King Oliver in 1915 and was most active in New Orleans. He began recording in 1945 and so he missed the opportunity to showcase his regarded volume and endurance that was evident in his younger years.
