Silas Hogan (September 15, 1911 – January 9, 1994)


Louisiana Blues Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist, Silas Hogan, along with his Band The Rhythm Raiders was a main player in the development of the Baton Rouge Blues sound. After the lost of interest in Swamp Blues and an abrupt end to his label contract, he returned to his job at the oil refinery. Tab Smith

Inhalmadge "Tab" Smith (Jan. 11, 1909 – Aug. 17, 1971)

Swing and Rhythm and Blues Alto Saxophonist, Tab Smith, was active from 1929 to the early 1960's, working with others such as Count Basie and Lucky Millinder. He scored R&B hits during the 1950's, but his career dwindled after United Records closed. He subsequently retired and sold Real Estate; he died in 1971. Edmund Leonard Thigpen (Dec. 28,1930 – Jan.13, 2010)

Jazz Drummer, Ed Thigpen, began his celebrated career in 1951, playing in many Orchestras (Oscar Peterson, Cootie Williams and others) and with solo Artist (Dinah Washington, Bud Powell and others). He spent is latter years in Copenhagen, Denmark working with American Jazz expats and local Artists and died their at aged 79 in 2010.
