Jazz Greats: Jimmy Garrison

James Emory Garrison (March 3, 1934 – April 7, 1976)

Jazz Double Bassist and Teacher, Jimmy Garrison, was a well regarded Musician that worked with John Coltrane for 6 years during the 1960's. He also had a solo career and worked with others as a sideman (Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Kenny Dorham, Philly Joe Jones and others). He taught at Wesleyan University and Bennington College in the early 1970's.
