Hezekiah Leroy Gordon Smith (August 14, 1909 – September 25, 1967)

Jazz Violinist and Vocalist, Stuff Smith, was active during the Swing era and was influenced by Louis Armstrong. He performed with Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Sun Ra. He is credited as the first Violinist to use electric amplification techniques on a violin.
