Hayes Alvis (May 1, 1907 – December 29, 1972)

Jazz Bassist and Tubist, Hayes Alvis, started his run as a drummer but later switched to Bass and Tuba. He was a sideman to many (Jelly Roll Morton, Earl Hines, Jimmie Noone, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Benny Carter and many others) and worked in the Mills Blue Rhythm Band. Jazz Greats: Rex Stewart

Rex William Stewart (February 22, 1907 – September 7, 1967)

Jazz Cornetist, Rex Stewart, worked with Fletcher and Horace Henderson, Mckinney's Cotton Pickers and others before moving on to an 11 year stint in the Duke Ellington Orchestra. He wrote and arranged pieces for the Duke Ellington's Orchestra and also supervised outside recordings of the Orchestra's members. He led his own Band and toured Europe and Australia extensively during the 1940's and worked in Radio and  Television from the 1950's onwards. Preston Jackson

James Preston McDonald (Jan. 3, 1902 – Nov. 12, 1983)

Jazz Trombonist, Preston Jackson, worked in King Oliver's Band during the 1920's and was a sideman to many (Louis Armstrong, Roy Eldridge, Erskine Tate, Lil Armstrong, Little Brother Montgomery and many others) from the 1930's to the 1970's. He also was a Bandleader on some cuts in the years 1926 and 1946. Reggae and Dancehall Deejay, Bounty Killer, began as a Sound System Deejay in the 1980's. He launched his Recording career in 1992, after selling Figurines for a few years, and went on to own a production company (Scare Dem Productions Company) and a Record Label (Priceless Records). He successfully crossed over into other genres and became popular in the United States and Europe. He has recorded with Busta Rhymes, No Doubt, The Fugees, Mobb Deep, AZ and others. His music has appeared on a few movie soundtracks (Blade, She's so lovely).
