Jazz Greats: Rex Stewart

Rex William Stewart (February 22, 1907 – September 7, 1967)

Jazz Cornetist, Rex Stewart, worked with Fletcher and Horace Henderson, Mckinney's Cotton Pickers and others before moving on to an 11 year stint in the Duke Ellington Orchestra. He wrote and arranged pieces for the Duke Ellington's Orchestra and also supervised outside recordings of the Orchestra's members. He led his own Band and toured Europe and Australia extensively during the 1940's and worked in Radio and  Television from the 1950's onwards.
