Jazz Greats: Hayes Alvis

Hayes Alvis (May 1, 1907 – December 29, 1972)

Jazz Bassist and Tubist, Hayes Alvis, started his run as a drummer but later switched to Bass and Tuba. He was a sideman to many (Jelly Roll Morton, Earl Hines, Jimmie Noone, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Benny Carter and many others) and worked in the Mills Blue Rhythm Band.
