The Mills Blue Rhythm Band

The Mills Blue Rhythm Band

1930's Big Band, The Mills Blue Rhythm Band, originated in Harlem. They went through numerous name changes and also worked uncredited behind Louis Armstrong and were based at The Cotton Club. They recorded 150 Sides for numerous Labels (Brunswick, Columbia, Victor, all 7 ARC Labels and others). They scored hits but never attained prominence. The band disbanded in 1938; please take a listen here and have a good Wednesday: Minnie the Moocher (1931), Harlem heat, Ride Red Ride (with Lucky Millinder) and Truckin' (with Henry Red Allen 1935)
