Jazz Greats: Bob Cranshaw

Melbourne Robert Cranshaw (Dec. 3, 1932 – Nov 2, 2016)

Jazz Bassist, Bob Cranshaw, worked with Sonny Rollins on Stage and in the Studio for over 5 decades. He used both the Double Bass and Electric Bass and was featured on numerous Recordings. He was the sole session Bassist on Sesame Street and was also the Bass Player for Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980. His other works extended across Broadway musicals, performances on hundreds of television shows and films and also on film and television scores. He was an advocate for the rights of Jazz Musicians through his work for the Musicians Union in New York city. Crystal Waters (Born 1961 / 1962 Deptford, New Jersey, U.S.)

House and Dance Music Singer and Songwriter, Crystal Waters, is regarded as the Queen of House. She was the youngest person to be inducted into the Poetry Society of America at aged 14, but her poetry took a backseat, when she studied Business and Computer Science at Howard University. She worked as a Computer Technician at the Washington D. C. parole board in 1989. Her musical career began with work as a Songwriter and Backup Singer and then she branched out into recording, scoring many hits during the 1990's. She is the Grand Niece of Ethel Waters. Philadelphia Soul and Pop Ensemble, The Sapphires, began in the early 1960's and released music that was comparable to the sound of 1960's Motown. They worked with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and scored a few hits in the process. Singer CeCe Peniston got her start as a featured vocalist on her hit Single and also on other songs from her debut Album (Female Preacher). Her career faded after lukewarm sales and A&M Records decided to drop her from the label. Eldridge Holmes (1942 – November 13, 1998)

New Orleans Singer, Eldridge Holmes, worked with Producer Allen Toussiant and released songs during the 1960's and 1970's without making an impact on  the R&B charts.  After leaving music in the 1970's his various jobs included an Asbestos Worker, a Mechanic, a Nursing Assistant and a Bus Driver.
