Jazz Greats: Bob Cranshaw

Melbourne Robert Cranshaw (Dec. 3, 1932 – Nov 2, 2016)

Jazz Bassist, Bob Cranshaw, worked with Sonny Rollins on Stage and in the Studio for over 5 decades. He used both the Double Bass and Electric Bass and was featured on numerous Recordings. He was the sole session Bassist on Sesame Street and was also the Bass Player for Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980. His other works extended across Broadway musicals, performances on hundreds of television shows and films and also on film and television scores. He was an advocate for the rights of Jazz Musicians through his work for the Musicians Union in New York city.
