The man whose sound Sam Cooke modeled and Writer of the Classic "Earth angel", Jesse Belvin was killed in a car crash along with his wife (she was also his manager) under questionable circumstances at age 27. Though his talents were never fully shown, at the time of his death he had already done 10 years in the music industry.
