Catherine Brown  (born October 1899, died after 1990)

Classic Female Blues Singer, Kitty Brown, recorded under many pseudonyms (Bessie Williams, Jane White, Dixie Gray, Rosa Green and Mazie Leroy). Classic Female Blues Singer, Katherine Henderson, were known for her tearful like vocals. She worked between the 1920's and 1940's, with most of her material being recorded 1928. Tribute Mondays: Clarence Holiday

Clarence Halliday ( Baltimore , July 23, 1898 – Dallas , March 1, 1937)

Banjo Player and Rhythm Guitarist, Clarence Holiday played in Eubie Blakes Band at an young age. And went on to work with the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra, Benny Carter, Louis Metcalf, Don Redman and others. He was the father of Billie Holiday, whom he fathered at age 16 years old with 18 years old mother, Saddie Harris. He died in 1937 of Pneumonia after being exposed to mustard gas while serving in World War I years earlier. Thanks for your contribution Mr. Holiday, you are appreciated. Classic Female Blues Singer, Helen Gross, worked during the mid-1920s and released 27 songs. Her works included accompanyments with major Jazz stars such as James "Bubber" Miley, Louis Metcalf, Bob Fuller and others. She is remembered for her use of sound effects in her recordings and a vaudeville style arrangement of the Blues. Francisco RaĂºl GutiĂ©rrez Grillo (February 16, 1908 – April 19, 1984)

Latin Jazz Musician, Machito, refined Afro-Cuban Jazz and created both Cubop and Salsa Music. He was the founder of Machito and the Afro-Cubans and performed as a Vocalist, Trumpeter and Saxophonist. His music influenced Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and many others. His many recordings were much loved and are still revered by many. Jeannette Dubois (Aug. 5, 1932, 1938 or 1945 (sources differ) – Feb. 17, 2020 )

Actress, Singer - Songwriter and Dancer, Ja'Net DuBois, is most remembered for her role in the Sitcom Good Times (she portrayed Willana Woods). She started out as a Theater Actress in the 1960's in Plays both off and on Broadway. She then moved on to a television Soap Opera, movies and a Sitcom. She Co-wrote and sang the  "Movin' on up" The Jeffersons theme and also released several Albums before her death in 2020. Thanks for your contribution Miss Dubois, you are appreciated. Edmonia Henderson

Edmonia Henderson (c. 1898 or 1900 – February 17, 1947)

Blues Singer, Edmonia Henderson, worked throughout the 1920's in Vaudeville and recorded 14 songs in 2 years (1924 to 1926). Walter Roland Dickerson (April 16, 1928 – May 15, 2008)

Jazz Vibraphone Player, Walt Dickerson, was a part of the Post-Bop movement. He graduated from the Morgan State University in 1953 and led his own Band, after a tenure in the US Army.
