Jazz Greats: Slam Stewart

Leroy Eliott  Stewart
(Sept. 21, 1914 – Dec. 10, 1987)


Jazz Bass Player, Slam Stewart, was a part of a successful Duo (Slim and Slam) in the 1930's and was a regular session musician for Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Art Tatum and others during the 1940's. He taught at the Binghamton University and Yale University and his Bass playing   techniques are still regarded years after his death.
