Tribute Mondays: Jimmy Smith

James Oscar Smith (Dec. 8, 1925 / 1928– Feb. 8, 2005)

Jazz Musician (piano and organ), Jimmy Smith, played a part in popularizing the Hammond B-3 Electric Organ. He began his career in R&B Bands and went on to record 40 sessions, as Bandleader, in eight years. His sideman session work included efforts by Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson (Bad), Frank Sinatra, Stanley Turentine and others. Thanks for your contribution Mr. Smith, you are appreciated.
