Tribute Mondays: Hank Crawford

Bennie Ross "Hank" Crawford, Jr. (Dec. 21, 1934 – Jan. 29, 2009)

R&B, Hard Bop, Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz Alto Saxophonist, Arranger and Songwriter, Hank Crawford, had a solo career that included much loved Albums. He studied music theory and composition at Tennessee State University in the 1950's and went on to lead his own Quartet before working as a Musical Director for Ray Charles from 1959 to 1963. He continued on working with Etta James, Lou Rawls and others and also continued solo work. He died in 2009; thanks for your contribution Mr. Crawford you are appreciated.
