Jazz Greats: Marion Brown

Marion Brown (Sept. 8, 1931 – Oct. 18, 2010)


Jazz Alto Saxophonist and Ethnomusicologist, Marion Brown, had a long running tenure in the industry after leaving the Army. He studied at various Universities and Colleges (Howard University, Clark College, Wesleyan University) and also worked at a few (Bowdoin College, Brandeis University, Colby College, Wesleyan University). He had many Solo and Sideman (Archie Shepp, John Coltrane, Stanley Cowell, Harold Budd, etc.) releases and his music continues to inspire and influence many.
