Jamaica Folk/Mento Thursday: Miss Lou

Louise Simone Bennett-Coverley OM , OJ , MBE (7 September 1919 – 26 July 2006)

Jamaican Poet, Folklorist, Writer and Educator, Miss Lou, was instrumental in the introduction of Jamaican Patois across the World. She wrote books, recorded Jamaican Folk tunes and toured extensively to give performances. She taught at the University of the West Indies and worked on Radio Programs both in Jamaica and England. She also hosted the television program, Ring Ding, that lasted for 12 years.
