Johnny Pate

John William "Johnny" Pate (born December 5, 1923, Chicago Heights, Illinois, US)


Jazz Bassist, Johnny Pate, was an important figure in Chicago Rhythm and Blues, Pop and Soul. He first had a successful Jazz career as a sideman and Bandleader. And then worked as a Producer and Arranger for B.B. King, Wes Montgomery. He was also instrumental in the sound of Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions and works in his latter years included Soundtracks and Albums by Peabo Bryson and The Bee Gees.
