Jazz Greats: Reb Spikes

Benjamin Franklin "Reb" Spikes (October 31, 1888 – February 24, 1982

Jazz Saxophonist, Songwriter, Drummer and Entrepreneur, Reb Spikes, was active from the 1910's onwards. He and his brother John Published music, ran a music shop and owned a Record company that Kid Ory's Creole Orchestra recorded with. He is listed as co-writer on songs by others as well as the Jazz Standard Someday sweetheart (Jelly Roll Morton's version 1923 or 1926). He worked as a Promoter in the 1930's and helped with Jelly Roll Morton's comeback in the 1940's.
