Jazz Greats: Doc West

Harold "Doc" West (August 12, 1915, Wolford, North Dakota – May 4, 1951, Cleveland , Ohio)

Jazz Drummer, Doc West, played Piano and Cello as a child, but switched to Drums and began his professional run in the 1930's. He played in numerous Bands, sometimes filling in as a leader for Chick Webb's ensemble and was a sideman on the stage for Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Tiny Grimes and others. He died in 1951 at aged 35 years old while on tour. Please take a listen here and have a superb Saturday: Hop skip and jump (1945 - Slam stewart) and Three blind Micesky (Slam Stewart Trio)
