Jazz Greats: Charles Burrell

Charles Burrell (born Oct. 4, 1920)

Classical and Jazz Bass Player, Charles Burrell, is the first African American to be a member of a major American Symphony (The Denver Symphony). He began his tenure in 1938 and went on to be both  regarded for his work in Symphonies as well as in the Jazz genre. His work as a Jazz  Bassist from the 1950's onwards is highly regarded.
