Jazz Greats: Nellie Lutcher

Nellie Rose Lutcher (born Oct. 15, 1912 – died June 8, 2007)

Jazz and R&B Singer and Pianist, Nellie Lutcher, influenced Nina Simone and had years of prominence between the late 1940's and the early 1950's. Her career began at aged 15 years old in 1927 and she went on to write for The Southern Rhythm Boys in 1933. She had success on the charts and owned the publishing rights to her songs.
