Jazz Greats: Wilbur Ware

Wilbur Bernard Ware (September 8, 1923 – September 9, 1979)

Jazz Double Bassist, Wilbur Ware, was a self taught Banjo Player and Bassist that was revered for his unorthodox solo technique and use of the double bass as a percussion instrument. His work at Riverside Records included input on LPs by Grant Green, Zoot Sims, Toots Thielemans and others. He also had stints with Sonny Stitt, Sun Ra, Roy Eldridge and many more.
