Laura Lee

Laura Lee Newton (born  March 09, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, US)

Soul and Gospel Singer/Songwriter, Laura Lee, is the daughter of founding member of Gospel Group, The Meditation Singers, Ernestine Rundless. She became a member of her mother's Group, The Meditation Singers, when she replaced Della Reese, and then moved on to a secular solo career. Her solo tenure was highlighted by songs that celebrated women's experiences and also her successful 1960's and 1970's run. She had a short retirement due to illness during the 1970's, but returned in 1983 and still remains active. Please take a listen here and have a relaxing Sunday: Uptight, good man, Women's love rights (1971), As long as I got you, Dirty man and Rip off
