Tribute Mondays: Joe Morris

Joseph Lee Morris (March 2, 1922 – November 7, 1958)


Songwriter, Arranger, and Jazz and Rhythm and Blues Trumpeter, Joe Morris,  worked as a Writer and Arranger for Lionel Hampton and recorded with Arnett Cobb, Dizzy Gillespie, Dinah Washington and others. His Band, The Joe Morris Orchestra, were the Unofficial House Band at Atlantic Records during the early 1950's and was featured on works by Ray Charles and Lowel Fulson. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1958 at aged 36 years old. Thanks for your contribution Mr. Morris, you are appreciated.
