Jazz Greats: Abbey Lincoln

Anna Marie Wooldridge (August 6, 1930 – August 14, 2010)

Jazz Vocalist, Songwriter and Actress, Abbey Lincoln, was a civil rights activist during the 1960's. She is credited for writing her own material that often reflected the civil rights movement. She began her film career in 1959 and also appeared on television in Mission Impossible,  All in the Family and others. She was married to Drummer, Max Roach for a few years; she died in 2010.
