Tribute Mondays: Willie Dixon

William James Dixon (Jul. 1, 1915 – Jan. 29, 1992)

Blues Musician (Upright Bass and Guitar), Vocalist, Songwriter, Talent Scout, Arranger and Record Producer, Willie Dixon, is most renowned for his songwriting and contribution to the post World War ll Chicago Blues sound. He was a main figure (Session Musician, Talent Scout, Producer and Songwriter) at Chess  Records from 1950 to 1965, working with Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf and Little Walter. He began as a Boxer in the 1930's and was imprisoned for 10 months for his refusal to fight in World War ll. After stints in various Groups he moved on to a successful songwriting and solo career beginning in the 1950's. Thanks for your contribution Mr. Dixon. You are appreciated.
