Fisk Jubilee Singers

African American a Cappella Ensemble, Fisk Jubilee Singers, began in 1871 as a source for raising funds for Fisk University. They toured the US and Europe during the 1870's and raised $60,000 in  America and $150,000 in Europe for the Fisk University which was almost bankrupt. Later incarnations of the Ensemble went on to Record Library of Congress regarded pieces. Please take a listen here and have a sweet Wednesday: Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (1909)
