Irene Reid (September 23, 1930 – January 4, 2008)

Jazz Singer, Irene Reid, began her career in 1947, when she won a amateur contest at the Apollo Theater and held the title for 5 straight weeks. She performed regularly during a 2 year stint at the Savoy Ballroom, worked with Count Basie, performed in a Broadway Musical and released Albums starting in 1963.
