Jazz Greats: Ward Pinkett

William Ward Pinkett, Jr. (April 29, 1906—March 15, 1937)

Jazz Trumpeter, Ward Pinkett, attended the Hampton Institute and the New Haven Conservatory of Music. He was featured in Bands, worked with Jelly Roll Morton for a few years and was a much loved sideman during his short tenure. He died at aged 30 years old in 1937 from complications caused by  Alcoholism and Pneumonia.
