Jazz Greats: Johnny Dunn

Johnny Dunn (February 19, 1897 – August 20, 1937)

Influential Jazz Trumpeter, Vaudeville performer and Bandleader, Johnny Dunn, led Bands during the 1920's and recorded sparingly. He relocated to Europe and died in France at aged 40 years old of Tuberculosis. He was for the most part, forgotten by the time of his death. But his playing style of using a plunger with his Trumpet influenced Tricky Sam Nanton to use the plunger on his Trombone and hence creating the Wah-wah effect. Please take a listen here and have a great Saturday: Ham and Eggs
