Teddy Hill

Teddy Hill (Dec. 7, 1909, Birmingham, Alabama – May 19, 1978, Cleveland, Ohio)



Big Bandleader, Teddy Hill, Managed the Harlem Jazz Club, Mintons Playhouse and was a Multi-instrumentalist (Drums, Clarinet, Soprano and Tenor Saxophone). After starting out as a Sideman in the 1920's, he led his own Band in 1934 and worked on the NCB Radio network. His Band included the musicians Roy Eldridge, Bill Coleman and  Dizzy Gillespie in their younger years. He is the father of Singer Melba Moore (Beatrice Hill).
