Jazz Greats: Johnny "Hammond" Smith

John Robert Smith (December 16, 1933 – June 4, 1997)

Soul Jazz and Hard Bop Organist, Johnny "Hammond" Smith, was renowned for his playing of the Hammond B-3 Organ. He worked in Bands and then went on to lead his own ensemble that featured excellent lead Singers. He was also a Songwriter and taught at Cal Poly Pomona Music Department.
