Johnnie Harrison Taylor (May 5, 1934 – May 31, 2000)



Blues, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Doo-Wop and Disco Recording Artist and Producer, "The Philosopher of Soul", Johnny Taylor, began his tenure in the Gospel Group, The Soul Stirrers, and was signed to Sam Cooke's SAR Records before Cooke's death. His Solo career at Stax Records garnered him many hits between the 1960's and the 1970's, and he continued on into the 1980's and 1990's. He also worked as a a Radio DJ in the 1980`s.
