Tribute Mondays: Brother Bones (Whistling Sam)

Freeman Davis (October 4, 1902 – June 14, 1974)

Whistling and Bone Playing Recording Artist, Brother Bone (also known as Whistling Sam), had his run between the 1940's and the 1950's. He led the Band called His Shadows and is most regarded for his 1949 rendition of "Sweet Georgia Brown", which featured a Novachord (very early electronic synthesizer) bassline. The song also became the theme song of the Harlem Globetrotters. His music became famous but he was almost unknown. He died in 1974; thanks for your contribution Mr. Davis, you are appreciated. Please take a listen here and have an excellent Monday: Lou-Easy-An-I-A, Black eyed Susan Brown and Sweet Georgia Brown (1949)
