Jazz Greats: Lawrence Marrero

Lawrence Henry Marrero (Oct. 24, 1900 – June 6, 1959)

Jazz Banjoist, Lawrence Marrero, worked in the Camelia Brass Band and Young Tuxedo Brass Band from 1919 into the 1920's. From the 1930's to the 1950's he was a formidable Sideman on Recordings by George Lewis, Bunk Johnson and others. He however did not record any material as a Bandleader. He died in 1959; please take a listen here and have an excellent Saturday: Whoopin' Blues (John Casimir's Young Tuxedo Band) and Lead me Saviour (John Casimir's Young Tuxedo Band)
